Gas-Fired Power Generation Facility
Lack of electricity is one of the biggest issues that delay the development of many African countries, because the growth comes with more consumption of not only electricity but also energy, the existing distribution system is not enough for all, besides being expensive and not environmentally friendly.
Mitra Energy along with world class partners has a conception to develop a 2000 MW gas-fired
power generation and a LNG receiving terminal in Matola Central Térmica de Beluluane (CTB) (link to www.ctb.co.mz) was awarded a concession by the Mozambican Government for the construction and operation of a 2 000 MW gas fired power plant.
The power plant will be located in the Beluluane Industrial Park area in Matola. Natural gas will be
supplied by the Beluluane Gas Company (BGC), using imported Liquified Natural Gas (LNG). The LNG
will be delivered to a permanently moored Floating Storage Regasification Unit (FSRU) in the Matola
harbor. The power generated by the power plant will be sold to Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM)
and the Southern Africa Power Pool.
