Beluluane Gas Company
Against a backdrop of escalating energy demand, anxiety over energy security and rising environmental concerns, LNG is set to play a critical role in future energy ecosystem. Natural Gas Supply & Demand for power generating and the lack of a supply capacity in recent years has brought an apparent gap in the supply and demand for natural gas. While demand is expected to grow little for household, commercial and industrial, its use in power generation is expected to increase remarkably.
Beluluane Gas Company (BGC), an affiliate of the Matola Gas Company, was awarded the concession by the Mozambican Government for the importation of Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) into the Maputo harbor. The concession includes the operations of a permanently moored Floating Storage Regasification Unit (FSRU), marine infrastructure and a new high-pressure gas pipeline.
This gas pipeline will connect the FSRU with a new gas fired power plant, Central Térmica de Beluluane (CTB), to be constructed in the Beluluane Industrial Park in Matola. The pipeline will also connect to the existing Matola Gas Company (MGC) pipeline network in Matola which is connected to the Rompco pipeline, supplying gas to South Africa.
